What Can we take away from Pope Francis transfer from this life into the next
Declaration of the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, 21.04.2025
At 9.47 this morning, His Eminence Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced with sorrow the death of Pope Francis, with these words:
“Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis.
At 7.35 this morning the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was devoted to service to the Lord and His Church.
In the above excerpt from the Director of the Holy See Press Office, we learn that Pope Francis has transferred from this life into the next. In the next couple of weeks, a new leader of the Holy Roman Catholic Church will be selected. What can we take from this passing of the leader of the Western Christian Church?
As we stand on the threshold of this significant change in the Christian community, the biblical model of prayer, preparation, and peace-making offers us a clear and empowering path forward. Like Jacob facing Esau, we are often confronted with unknown outcomes and unresolved tensions. But rather than retreat in fear or rush into reaction, we are invited to pray first—to align our hearts with God, seek wisdom beyond our understanding, and surrender our anxieties to the One who sees what we cannot. Prayer may remove the challenge as it gets God’s Grace involved, but it most definitely grounds us in peace and opens us to divine direction.
Preparation then becomes the natural outflow of prayer. With discernment and courage, we take practical steps—organizing our resources, building relationships, learning new skills, or making strategic decisions that anticipate the future without being controlled by fear. This is not panic-driven planning, but faith-informed readiness. It’s about positioning ourselves—and our communities—for resilience, so we can stand firm when the winds of change come.
Finally, we must become peacemakers, not just peace-wishers. This means stepping into conflict with grace, extending forgiveness, building bridges, and choosing reconciliation over retaliation. In a polarized world, peace-making is revolutionary. It turns enemies into neighbors and prepares the soil for restoration. As we move into a new season—whether personally, nationally, or globally—this three-fold path empowers us to lead with calm, courage, and compassion, carrying the presence of God into the heart of our future.
So, let us use this as a time to bring Prayer, Preparation and Peace into our world.
The Word that I share with you is:
Luke 7:35 "But wisdom is proved right by all her children."
The "children" of wisdom refer to those who embrace and live according to God's wisdom, demonstrating its truth through transformed lives. This aligns with the biblical theme that genuine wisdom, rooted in God's truth, manifests in righteous living and positive outcomes. As noted in Proverbs, wise conduct leads to blessing, while folly yields destruction. Thus, the lives of those who follow God's wisdom serve as evidence of its validity.
Let us use this as a time to continue to renew our minds to the Word of God and thus transform our lives to better reflect the Will of God…
Yours in Christ,
Dr. Amos B Robinson
