Look at Challenges as Opportunities for Growth
As we approach life, we should look at times of adversity as an opportunity to strengthen ourselves and focus on the blessing of our Heavenly Father.
Proverbs 24:10
10 If you falter in a time of trouble,
how small is your strength!
Many people believe that they should resist opposition. Instead, see it as a force to build resilience in your life. Learn from the opposition. Let it make you better as a person. Let it change your thinking as appropriate.
Sometimes we create challenges in our life. One way that we do that is with critical self-talk. We make negative assessments about ourselves and then reinforce this negative assessment through self-talk. These negative assessments then become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
When critical thoughts come to mind, try reframing them into something positive. If these negative thoughts keep coming, then write out a positive affirmation to counter it and try repeating it over and over until it starts to reframe your thinking.
1 Peter 5:5-6
5 In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for
“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
Sometime we develop false beliefs about people, things or situations. Examine these beliefs in the light of facts. Perhaps you should question what you believe in light of reality or the truth of the matter. Then start to develop new beliefs in light of the facts or the truth of the matter.
