Don’t let the negativity all around you influence you

It is unfortunate, but we live a constant flow of negativity.  Just turn on the news or listen to gossip among friends, coworkers or neighbors [which you shouldn’t by the way].  When I say negativity, I mean there is a tremendous amount of criticism and critical views being expressed every day in our society.

Do we spend the majority of our time thinking about something positive or something negative or what’s wrong?  If it’s the latter, we should strive to think on more positive things.

Don’t allow yourself to give into physical desires that could be harmful.

When we go through challenging times or situations, we are presented with an opportunity to grow.  Don’t resist these, lean into them.  As we do this it will facilitate our progress and be an example for others.

When we face times of challenge or uncertainty in our life, it is these times that we lean on our trust in our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus.  The Lord will remain faithful to His promises.

Do we operate our life out of fear and/or scarcity? If we do, it can lead us to make wrong or bad choices that don’t end well.  Remember, we have a Heavenly Father that absolutely loves us and wants us to be prosperous in every area of our life [John 10:10].

If we are walking in a closer relationship with the Lord, then He can give us strength and perspective on those negative situations to turn them into a positive one.  For example, has your boss and colleagues become so unbearable that you can’t deal with them anymore.  Could that be a sign that our Heavenly Father wants you to move along to a better job situation.  That could include promotion and better pay?  Turn these negative situations into something positive [John 15:3].

In your relationships with others, position yourself as a giver rather than a taker.  Also, be open to receive.  We have to be a good receiver as well.  This will put us in a place to give more.

People think that once they have more to give, they will then start to give more.  However, the truth of the matter is, that if we don’t give when we have little, we won’t give when we have more.  If we start out with the small that we have, God will position us with more.

The Bible admonishes that it is better to give than receive.  This is most definitely true.  It is in fact the way that we receive.

We can rise above the negativity by sharing acts of kindness and positivity.
